PETALING JAYA, April 15: It may not be good news for a government who has been so used to campaign for elections through public television channels, but it so happens that this year's 'Turn off TV' week coincides with the peak of the campaign for the Hulu Selangor by-election on April 25.
Federation of Malaysian Consumers Association (FOMCA) in a statement today said the week-long campaign will take place from 21 to 27 April, and will be launched by its president Marimuthu Nadason in Petaling Jaya tomorrow.
The global initiative which started in 1995 forms part of the two-year old National Consumers Campaign 2008-2012 themed "Change Begins With Me".
FOMCA said the campaign was aimed at encouraging people to not only switch off their TV sets, but also not spend time on the Internet, so that they can do other activities with families and friends.
