Nik Aziz tells Zaid to be patient, urges voters reject BN racism

Harakahdaily

KUALA KUBU BARU, April 24: Patience and prayer - those are two pieces of advice from PAS Murshidul Am Tuan Guru Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat to PKR's candidate in Hulu Selangor Zaid Ibrahim.
"Tok Guru (Nik Aziz) phoned me twice and advised me to have patience and make invocations," Zaid told a press conference accompanied by Nik Aziz in Kuala Kubu Baru, last night.
Zaid has been relentlessly targeted in the Barisan Nasional campaign which has focussed on personal attacks, with doctored pictures of Zaid drinking from a beer bottle distibuted by UMNO's election machinery in an apparent bid to tell Malay voters that he is an alcoholic.
Zaid said he was grateful for Nik Aziz's moral support at such a crucial time.
"I am touched by Tok Guru's support."
Meanwhile, Nik Aziz has again urged voters in the constituency to reject BN's racist politics and choose Zaid when they go to the polls tomorrow.
Islam's rejection of racism
Saying Islam was against racism, Nik Aziz said rejecting such a policy would solve many problems faced by man.
"In Islam, it is mentioned that man comes from a single mother and father, Adam and Eve. When we say human race, there is no question of problems arising from race," said the Kelantan Menteri Besar, adding that such a stand should be made the premise in rejecting racism totally.
"I came to campaign for Pakatan Rakyat. I did not come as a Malay," he added.
On BN's attacks on Zaid's person, Nik Aziz described such a campaign as childish and stupid.
"They are no different than children. If they can throw punches, they would. If not, they would escape and show tongue."
