Israeli spies: Kit Siang to call emergency motion today

Harakahdaily

IPOH, April 12: Ipoh Timor MP Lim Kit Siang has called on Barisan Nasional MPs to back an emergency motion which he will
be submitting Monday to Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia, to debate the establishment of a Royal Commission of Inquiry on revelations that Israeli agents had infiltrated the police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
Speaking at the launching yesterday of a DAP service centre in Tebing Tinggi, Ipoh, Lim described the overlapping investigations announced by Home Minister Hishamuddin Hussein as "redundant".
"It is downright ridiculous and outrageous to have four agencies probing into one same matter.
"Furthermore, given their past records, who would believe that the police, the MACC and the National Security Council could conduct any credible, independent and professional investigation, untainted by political considerations of the powers-that-be?" he asked.
Last Tuesday, Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim revealed that two members of the Israeli secret service had been stationed at the police headquarters in Bukit Aman.
Anwar produced confidential documents and minutes of meeting exposing the Royal Malaysian Police's dealing with the two Israeli programmers to develop its Police Reporting System (PRS). The revelation came hot on the heel of the controversy surrounding public relations consultant Apco Worldwide engaged by the Malaysian government, but whose links with senior Israeli leaders were revealed by Anwar in parliament during debate on the royal address.
Lim, saying Hishamuddin's announcement of separate investigations by four government agencies showed the seriousness of the revelation by Anwar, however reminded that the agencies lacked credibility in the eyes of Malaysians.
"Furthermore, given their past records, who would believe that the police, the MACC and the National Security Council could conduct any credible, independent and professional investigation, untainted by political considerations of the powers-that-be?" said Lim.
He instead called on Hishamuddin to agree to the establishment of a Special Parliamentary Select Committee headed by a Pakatan Rakyat MP, "with the Police and Government undertaking not to block or hamper inquiries whether using Official Secrets Act or other ruses."
Convinced that the Home Minister would not agree to such a proposal, Lim said that only a royal commission of inquiry comprising of independent members could conduct an indepth and comprehensive investigation.
